LEARN Lab

The LEARN Lab, led by Prof. Parmit Chilana at Simon Fraser University, focuses on Learning, Empowering & Advancing Research on Novel Interactions. We study how people learn, create, and work with complex and emerging technologies, and design novel interactive systems that empower people to understand and use these technologies effectively. Our research advances new approaches to software learnability, human-AI interaction, and interactive systems, with a growing focus on AI-powered and agentic systems that support learning, creativity, collaboration, and human agency. Across our work, we consider the diversity of users' backgrounds, expertise, and goals to inform the design of novel interactions with increasingly capable technologies.
